Hawaii Youth to Medicine
With the recent challenge of 800 doctors short in Hawaiʻi, Ignite a Life is proud to launch its next great program, Hawaiʻi Youth to Medicine (HYM).
With your generous contribution, we are planning on sponsoring local Hawaiian youth into medical internships, and to give them scholarships to attend medical school.
Legacy Programs
Alaka’i Youth Leadership Academy
A six day overnight international conference that parred up rural hawaiian youth, speakers, and community leaders with speakers and youth from around the world. Students engaged in physically demanding challenges, cultural restoration and exchange, as well as, self and community leadership training. A parent program was also run simultaneously on the emphasis on improving home life for families.
Hawaii Leaders Core
A yearly program where local and underserved youth from Maui County were given leadership, academic, and community leadership skills to support them and their families goals for social, collage, and entrepreneurial dreams.

- Attended Monthly Meetings
- Received Academic Scholarships
- Participated in one on one custom internships and mentoring
- Traveled to international leadership conferences
- And participated in cultural foundation classes
Speakers Of Hawaii Speaker Series
Youth from Hawaii Leaders Core were paired up one on one with a local or international speaker who was an expert in a topic they were passionate about. These students then resaved training and speaking from their mentor and participated in joint presentations with them in their high school or others in maui county, sharing what they learned with their peers. Some students went on to speak by themselves after the program, as well as, participate in TEDXYouth talks.
